"During the month of November, the Santa Barbara Library is proud to display the artwork of the Los Padres Watercolor Society in the Main Faulkner Gallery."

My godmother, Rose Margaret Braden (founder of The Los Padres Watercolor Society) and her class will be having there yearly show at the Faulkner gallery.

Because of her heath she has lost motivation to do her "wall" for the past 3 or 4 years. The Wall is a group of the best paintings from the class. With those paintings they always group them together in some wild and creative way. Since it is a class there is usually a theme so the "wall" will be put in such a way that it goes with the theme.

This year a her friends have really pushed her to do the wall. BUT! what she does not know is that George, who usually helps with the set up, is hunting for ALL her students and/or anyone who has been motivated or inspired by her. The Wall is going to be in honer of her! And she has no idea!!!!! SO GREAT!

Rose has lived a long life and has had so may students that have stayed in touch. She has been a teacher for may years and even was a teacher at The Brooks Institute of Photography for 30 years. She is the one who gave me my first brush and paints. I really own my life and my art th her.

Im working on two paintings that will be for the show. Its kinda hard for me because it has to go with the theme. Its not the theme that bothers me but that im limited to what i can do. Usually her class is known for there pretty flowers but this year Rose said, "No more flowers! I want something different". Instead she wants trees, which goes with there name, The Los Padres National Forest. And she wants everything to have a very vertical feel with soft yellows, browns.

Im working very hard but its difficult because my motivation comes and goes. I could never be a commercial artist, I dont like being told what to paint. BUT! this is the only person I would ever push myself to paint for. When Im done with the paintings I will post them up.


The show will be up for the whole month of November!
